Plasmodium vivax developing forms in thick film. They looks somewhat smaller and not very sharp than you would expect with P.vivax but it is because it is in a particularly thick film with lots of red cell debris and not as flattened as they would be in the area of ideal thickness of a thin film. Final diagnosis should be based on the examination of the thin films based on the observation of diagnostic forms of the parasite.
